Pawtucket Fire Station #1

Saccoccio & Associates worked on the historical renovation of this fire station for the City of Pawtucket.

This remarkable project involved the renovation, restoration and expansion of the historic fire station, originally built in 1912. The building was expanded from a modest 6,000 square feet to an impressive 7,500 square feet, featuring a new apparatus bay designed to accommodate a ladder truck—an essential addition for modern fire response. New amenities, such as a fitness center, a laundry room, and a decontamination room, enhance the functionality of the facility. Inside, the space was completely reimagined, now boasting eight modern staff quarters, two full bathrooms, and a kitchen seamlessly connected to a shared dining and day room, fostering community among the firefighters.

The project preserved the charm of the original structure by carefully repairing and repointing the brick façade, restoring decorative tiles, and rejuvenating the stunning fenestrations. The new addition pays homage to the building’s historic roots, designed as a respectful extension that complements the original architecture.
