Keats Gardens
Designed by Saccoccio & Associates,Keats Gardens is a $3.8 Million elderly housing project developed by the Blackstone Valley Development Corporation (BVDC), the development arm of the Arc of Blackstone Valley.
The two-story Keats Gardens contains one two-bedroom and 19 one-bedroom apartments, several common areas, outdoor gardens and a patio. The apartments are designed so elderly residents can “age in place” and can be adapted for any physical challenges that may arise. Features include grab bars in the bathrooms with roll in showers, wiring for automatic doors (if needed), accessible clearances at all doors and accessible heights for all light switches, counters and cabinets. Common areas include an entrance lobby with seating for 10, a conference room, lounge, activities room and laundry.
Keats Gardens completes the Arc’s Manton Street Initiative which transformed a vacant lot and the Arc’s former headquarters into apartments for seniors and the disabled. Construction of Belmont Commons (also designed by Saccoccio & Associates) a 10-unit complex for low income individuals with disabilities, was completed in 2013.
