Independence Square

Independence Square is an organization providing modern work environments for non-profit care giving agencies. The Kingston facility, located on the perimeter of URI’s main campus, house a consortium of public groups supporting human services, physical and communicative therapies. Among its other tenants are a First Step childcare facility, the URI’s Physical Therapy Graduate Program and URI’s Department of Kinesiology. Saccoccio & Associates designed the original facility in the 1990s, and later an expansive new addition which provided classrooms, new therapy labs and more office and meeting spaces. This public private partnership was the first of its kind in Rhode Island.
